Can I install a game to Playstation 3 hard drive?

I was wondering I just got this ps3 traded my 360 for it!! and when I had the 360 I would install the games to the xbox 360s HDD and play from there to keep the 360 running smoother. I was wondering if there was a way to do that with the ps3? I am not talking about backing up files/games, making burned games or MODDing or anything like that, Just simply playing from the hard drive with the original bought game from store in the ps3 console. To keep it from using so much energy and keep it cool. and do the intercooler fans work? I heard they block the actual fans inside the console. Which make the systems more prone to overheating.
